dvd reader problem?

edited June 2005 in Hardware
Hi folks, i bought two computers recently, they both included the same dvd reader which reads 48x cd, 16 dvd reader. The problem is using nero speed test i noticed that it reads 2 speed max with any disk, this is a problem when using it as a reader burning 16 speed dvd disks with my writer, which in each machine is dvd 108 which averages 12x with any disk. My buffer is going mad and finally stops completely and doesn't continue burning.

I checked nero tool and with my one computer it reads 48 x 48 x which is great, but all my burning is done on the other machine, this is listed under read and write 48x 48x. There is also a serial and date, under the same drive which isn't included on the other.

However with my other reader it reads the following, notice the read speed is 6 and write is zero 0? It reads cds and dvds at two speed only when tested with drive speed.

This is the infotool list, notice the buffer is on 2000 kb's with dvd 108, 2mb's with reader, could that be a cause?

I tried swopping the same drive out of my other computer with this one to fix the fault but the fault is still there, even with the same drive out of the other computer. Must be software fault surely.

Nero InfoTool 2.27
