Virtual Cds - gaming off a server???

I have a few questions regarding virtual disks for games:

I own a games cyber cafe in Sydney Australia. I bought the place already setup.

The computers have 40GB hard drives and until I start to make money I cant afford to upgrade them (all are folding ;D )

All Pcs are running Windows XP

The Server is running Windows Server 2003

1st question:

I have virtual cd v5 on each PC which creates a virtual Disk in its own Drive for each Game on the PC, so that the original disk is not needed.
This means that I am using approx 6GB of each hard drive as virtualcds. This limits my ability to upgrade and replace games or to just add new games. Each of the hard drives are almost full, 9-12 games, full install / plus xp / plus mods, maps etc

So is there a way of running a virtual disk off the server, - instead off the hard drive - so that the game can check that the correct cd is "inserted", and can this be duplicated for each machine?

Do I need a seperate folder for each PC or can more than 1 pc access the virtual cds?

Question 2:

Some of the computers are able to connect to the server without having to enter a password and some need a username and password to connect to the server. - the server runs the printer.

why would some be able to access the printer and some not?

what should i be looking for?

I need to learn this so that i can set all pcs to access the virtual disk folders automatically for the games disks.

If you have any questions or need more info, please ask.

I really need to find a way of freeing the space on the hard drives so that I can get new games for the members!

thanks in advance!

Siggy

I tried this very same concept by mapping a virtually-mounted CD ROM of Starcraft on a server to a client computer.. Even Starcraft, in all it's completely-unprotected glory, wouldn't work.

I have all the legal copies of the games, and the cd keys that go with them, I just need a way of running all the games on all 20 pcs from the server!!!

I am sure it can be done - it just needs someone with a lot more smarts than me to figure it out!!!!

What if you just placed the images on the server, and pointed the software mounting the images on the clients to the files on the server?
