    From Hotmail Customer Support:
You cannot recover a password that you have forgotten. To reset a forgotten password you must create a new one.

You can reset a forgotten password by requesting the Microsoft Passport Network to send a password reset e-mail to your alternate e-mail address (An e-mail address that is different from your primary Passport Network e-mail address. The alternate e-mail address can help you reset your password if you cannot access your account on the Passport Network.) (if you have provided one). If you created your credentials (Unique information that you use to access restricted resources. For the Passport Network, credentials include your e-mail address and password. They may also include a mobile phone number and PIN, a smart card, or a security key.) by using an existing e-mail account, you can request the Passport Network to send a password reset e-mail to that e-mail address.

If you have a strong password (A password that is difficult for others to determine by guessing or by using automated programs. These passwords usually contain combinations of letters, numbers, capitals, and punctuation symbols.) , requesting a password reset e-mail is the only way that you can reset a forgotten password.

If you do not have a strong password, you may have other options for resetting a forgotten password:

    * If your account has personal account information and you have provided a question and secret answer (A security measure to help keep others from accessing your account or changing your password without your permission. The answer should be something that no one knows but you.) to MSN, you can reset your password by providing account information (country/region, state, and ZIP code) and your secret answer.
    * If you have an MSN account that you pay for with a credit card, and that is the account you use to sign in to the Passport Network, you can reset your password by providing your billing information.
