Monitor/case loaning!

edited July 2005 in Community
This is the thread for those who:
  • Have any extra monitors and computer cases they can bring to the LAN.
  • Need to be sure they'll have a monitor and/or case available at the LAN for the duration of the weekend.

If you have a monitor or case that you can loan to someone, please post the info about what you're bringing as it pertains to you:
  • Size of the monitor(s).
  • Max refresh rate/rez of monitor (if possible, this would be really nice).
  • Case size (full or mid tower ATX).
  • If a PSU is included with the case (and it's size and brand).

If you need someone to loan you a monitor or case, post here as well. If you need a case specifically, make sure the case someone is offering to loan will fit with the hardware you're bringing.

PM the loaning party for more information about any details not covered in the info about the devices posted. This thread is for matchmaking ONLY! If a match between you and the other guy doesn't work out, post back here telling me so and I'll re-assign you both.

Ok, so here's how the matchmaking process will work: First come, first serve. In other words: If I have one monitor available for loan, I'll post its info and specs here. The first person to post that they need a monitor will get the one I offer.

The same system goes for cases, with a bit more digression on physical needs of course.

Please, for the love of God, stick with the person you matched up with! If you're matched up with someone who is loaning you a 15" monitor, and someone offers a 19"er, don't try to switch for the 19" just because it's larger. We're all adults here, and understand that the size of the monitor/case/feet of the user has nothing to do with the size of your penis, so please don't act like it does, mmk? If you try to switch, everyone will try to switch, and this will make me want to kill someone because it'll give me a bunch more work. I hate work.

Finally, if you're offering/needing something, please "vote" it appropriately in the poll above. The reason for this is so I'll be able to easily check and see how many people need a given item vs. how many are available at a glance, and I'll be able to more easily distribute the goods with confidence I'm not messing something up somewhere.

K? Here goes:

I have two monitors available for loan:

    Monitor one:

15", 1024x768 @ 85hz supported. Can do higher resolutions, but at much lower refresh rates.

    Monitor two:

15", 1024x768 @ 60Hz supported. It can do lower resolutions at higher refresh rates, but I'm not 100% positive on the numbers.

You are willing to loan me a case/PSU from the other thread, right?? Just making sure cause I just found this thread and noticed you mentioned you were loaning me the monitor but not about the case, just making sure I'll have everything lined up for the LAN and not have to steal someones case when they fall asleep :D

I can bring a monitor, if need be. It'll either be a crappy 15" LCD or a good 17" flatscreen CRT.

Besides my own rig, I plan to bring either a 15" or 19" spare monitor. (Depends on the mood of the girlfriend...)

I'm a lamer-gamer, so if you guys are real nice to me I wouldn't object to allowing responsible people to borrow my main rig here and there. Just don't peek at my bible music. :mullet:

/me takes a crash course in file and folder encryption techniques... :D

I can also bring a spare computer, fully rigged and ready to rock and roll if need be. If no one needs it I will leave it at home to Fold. It's a 1700+ rig OC'd to 2000+ level, with a 1337 FX5200 vid card and 512MB ram. If someone needs it I would appreciate hearing from them by next Tuesday. :)

Prime, if you would like it rigged as a game server (or whatever), PM me with details of what you want me to load on it.

Oh no worries there, we've got a server - and as tradition dictates, the server is given away as the grand prize at the end of the LAN :)

Then I retract the offer and the rig is up for grabs should anyone need it. Since computers can be finicky after being moved around, I'm going to bring it in any case. That way if someone's rig decides to act up on them there will be a spare handy.

    - and as tradition dictates, the server is given away as the grand prize at the end of the LAN :)
Yeah - no way you're getting my rig for a server now. ;D

Besides, it plays an important role in my quest to bump Keebs out of the Folding Top 20. :ninja:

Speaking of Folding, if any of you have parts to donate to the SMx Project be sure and bring them along. The money you save in postage can always be donated to the SMx Fund. :D

I've just come into over 20 monitors. Nobody needs to worry about monitors.
