Please help with hijacked browser and desktop...

I have been infected and now cannot run spysweeper (it just freezes up) and also can't get rid of my now blue desktop with the nice spyware message... really frustrating. I have run MS AntiSpyware, AdAware and SB S&D. Please let me know what to do.

    Hi perasite

    This may take more than one sweep to fix everything so one stage at a time.

    Download CWShredder here. Run it and instruct it to “fix” anything it finds, if anything.

    Download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it.

    Go to this site to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results by reading this. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

    To ensure the 015 Trusted Zone entries are removed completely download Hoster and run it. Choose the 'Restore Original Hosts' button and press OK.

    Download CleanUp! by going here. Do not run it yet.

    Reboot to safe mode (tap the F8 key till this appears).

    Scan with HJT then tick/check the following for removal IF FOUND (make sure you don't miss any):

    Now go to these foldwers and delete the particular files in bold only IF THEY are still present; not the whole folder but just the files.....

    NOTE >>> be very careful here. There are other valid files "svchost" that must not be deleted. Only the one with this long string of letters/numbers before it.

    Reboot your System in normal mode.

    Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

    If you have a fast internet connection (Broadband), run online scans at Panda Activescan and Housecall. Housecall has now been upgraded to beta version 6.0 detect which removes both viruses and spyware that it finds. Make sure they both perform a full system scans and please use the “Autoclean” option when running Housecall.

    Please post a fresh HijackThis log, so we can check your system again, and give us an update on how your system is behaving now.

    I am unable to actually navigate to the download of cleanup :( It keeps redirecting me from every link to download it to a search on downloads.... can you post a direct link to the download so it'll start and I can get it?

    Please be careful to follow all instructions fully.

    You need to clear out all temporary locations [including C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch, recycle bin & temporary internet files]. That was why I recommended CleanUp! If you still can't get CleanUp! then go here and download Ccleaner.......

    .....and run the program.

    Please boot to safemode again.

    Go into Hijack This->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click “Kill process” IF the process is running:

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\Services\{F1EAA504-544C-49BA-93AA-C55403835F1C}\SVCHOST.EXE

    Open HijackThis and click on Scan. Check the following entries (make sure you do not miss any):

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.clicksearchclick.com/index.php?aff=19

    Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers, before clicking ”Fix checked”.

    Delete the following Folder in bold IF it still exists:

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\Services\{F1EAA504-544C-49BA-93AA-C55403835F1C}

    Run the Ccleaner program again.

    Reboot your System in normal mode.

    Post a new log and let us know how your PC is behaving now.

    In order for me to download anything (ccleaner or cleanup) I need a link directly to the download. The problem is if there is a text link to a download it will only take me to a clicksearchclick page about downloads :(

    I would be more than happy to do these things but I need to get a link direct to the d/l. Not just to the download page as ccleaner was but a link here that I can click and it'll start my d/l.

    Are you now able to get the CleanUp! or Ccleaner downloads? If so I suggest you get one and run it through your system to remove all the temporary stuff. :thumbsup:
