sfbho.dll cannot be deleted.

Hihi,

I have tried the Adaware and the Spybot S&D, and McAfee VirusScan. The problem is it shows me that sfbho.dll cannot be cleaned out of my system. Can anyone help? Here is my hijack this log. Tell me what to delete too. Thanks!

    Your log is pretty clean.

Place a checkmark next to these entries, close all browsers and windows, and have HijackThis fix them by clicking Fix Checked:

I don't see any reference to sfbho.dll. What indication do you have that it is bad?
  • edited June 2005
sfbho.dll = Side Find Browser Helper Object right?

And should I delete this?: O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/21a60fc...ip/RdxIE601.cab (I think it relates to a program (Real Media Player right?)

And the sfbho.dll showed up on my McAfee Virus Scan, beside it, it says: PUP Name: Adware-SideFind

I guess I phrased that wrong.

I don't see that file in your log so how did you identify it? Did it turn up in a scan that you did?

If the only problem is that you can't delete it, use Hijackthis to delete on reboot.

Open HijackThis, press the Open Misc. Tools section button, and press Delete a file on reboot ... , select the file, press Open and Yes to confirm.

I'll try and delete it on startup. Hope it works!

YAY!! It works! But one thing...How come when I type in a forum site that uses php like the site in my sig, it takes so long to view the letters I just typed on the post? Try it yourself? If it has not problems, please tell me cause that means my comp is screwed up and then I need help.

    Thanks,
    Daniel

Do you mean that there is a lag time between when you type and when the letters show up? That could indicate a problem.

Please run at least two of these online scans.
Make sure they are set to clean automatically:

    Panda Virus Scan

    Bit Defender

    TrendMicro Housecall

There will be files that these scans will not remove. Please include that information in your next post.

Reboot and post a new hijackthis log and the info from your virus scans.
