Urgent Help

I ran the disk cleaner on windows. It froze for some reason. I hit cancel in the middle of it. Then, all hell broke loose on my computer. I can no longer access any programs, including the cleaner. It says, "reinstallation may fix problem" or equivalent. Is there any way for me to solve this problem w/o having to reinstall windows and lose everything?

    Which version of Windows is it? If it's XP, you could try a repair install. Just do this:

    Make sure your bios is set to boot from the cd first;
    put your XP CD in the cd drive and let it start up;
    at the first prompt to go to the recovery console, DON'T and continue the install;
    it should then find your original install of XP and offer to repair or do a new install;
    select the repair option and let it do it's stuff.
    This should preserve your data, but you might have to rerun all of the Windows updates as it sets windows back up as it was, for the most part, when it was first installed.
    If you're running any kind of raid controller and have your OS disk on that controller, you'll still have to press f6 and have the disk handy for the raid controller drivers or windows will NOT see your disks. Hope this helps. No garuantee, but works 90% of the time.

    Thanks Flinstone ;D Actually, I realized that I should have done something else to start with. I did a system restore that made everything normal again :mullet: Thanks for all of your help!
