    Hello DuLe

First, please print out or copy this page to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out the following instructions.

You are not running HijackThis from a temporary location but it's still not as permanent as I would like. Please move the folder to a permanent place on your hard drive such as C:\HJT. This will ensure that any backups made are not lost.

Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing / visible. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option.

Please download LSPFix (<<click on this link) and save it to a permanent folder. It is highly unlikely that you will need this program, but it is important to have it on hand in case you do. There is a very small chance that after removing New.Net, you may lose your internet connection. If this occurs, close all windows and run the LSPfix tool that you downloaded. Check "I know what I'm doing" and select all entries related to New.Net. Then click >> and remove all entries related to New.Net. Click "Finished".

Download CleanUp! by going here. Do not run it yet.

Reboot your system in Safe Mode (by repeatedly tapping the F8 key until the menu appears).

Go into Hijack This->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click “Kill process” for this IF it is still running...

    C:\Program Files\Parallel Tasking\ptask.exe

Click > Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs and uninstall the following programs:

    New.Net
    NewDotNet

Note>> This could have other names. If you see any other programs in your add/remove program(s) list that you think might be related to this hijacker please post the name(s) back to this thread BEFORE removing it/them. We can check.

Open HijackThis and click on Scan. Check the following entries IF they are present (make sure you do not miss any):

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
Note >> Take care here. These two are 2 almost identical

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Parallel Tasking] C:\Program Files\Parallel Tasking\ptask.exe

    O10 - Hijacked Internet access by New.Net
    O10 - Hijacked Internet access by New.Net
    O10 - Hijacked Internet access by New.Net
Note >> put a check/tick mark against each of these 4 these identical entries

Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers, before clicking ”Fix checked”.

Delete the following Folders indicated in BLUE IF they still exist.

    C:\Program Files\Parallel Tasking

    New.Net >> run a full system-wide search for this

Reboot your System in normal mode.

Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

If you have a fast internet connection (Broadband), run online scans at Panda Activescan and Housecall. Housecall has now been upgraded to beta version 6.0 detect which removes both viruses and spyware that it finds. Make sure they both perform a full system scans and please use the “Autoclean” option when running Housecall.

Please post a fresh HijackThis log, so that we can check if your system is clean, and let us know how your system is behaving now.

    Hi MM,
thank you very much for your reply, I've followed all your instructions but I'm still having that message on my screen as well as message from Norton that has detected Bloodhound.w32.ep and that it can not be repaired. I don't understand how it is possible that old Virus like this went thru. Why we are buying Norton, I can understand if it's something new, but like this...anyway here is my new HiJack report:

    Hi again DuLe

Sorry but I missed the Trojan downloader last time. We'll give it another run. This one is nasty and may take several goes to remove fully.

As to Norton, well, all I can say is I used to have this too but I, personally, feel out badly with it a couple of years back when it let a virus through. I don't use it now. My two networked PCs are protected by one "paid for" program - only a few $$ - and many free programs. When you are fixed up we can talk about improving your protection and cutting costs.

For the moment let's look at that Trojan.

As before I suggest you print this out.

Please work through this in oder and see what happens. You may have done some/all of this already but, now you have changed some things, please do them again.

Repeat the on-line scans at Panda Activescan and Housecall as you did before.

As you know these two could be lengthy scans as they are thorough. You can leave the PC and go do something else while they are running.

If they find anything they cannot fix please post here the full addresses for whatever it identifies. Both should give you reports on what they can't fix.

Visit the Windows Update site, click Scan for updates in the main frame, and download and install all CRITICAL updates recommended.

Download Spybot Search & Destroy and install it. Please run it, click "Search for Updates" then "Check for Problems". If it finds something, check/tick all items in RED and hit the “Fix Selected Problems” button. Exit Spybot.

Download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it.

Go to this site to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection.

Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results by reading this. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

Instructions for using Ad-Aware can be found in the downloaded files themselves.

Download CWSShredder, extract the file, and run the program. Click the Fix button to remove any malicious programs found.

Download FixAgent and unzip it. Run FixAgent.exe. It should fix something. If nothing is fixed skip to the next step for the HijackThis fixes. If something is found, also download home_missing_114 here and unzip it. Run the Home winkey missing batch file.

Remember: ONLY run home_missing_114 if FixAgent found something.

Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing / visible. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option.

Download CleanUp! again if you didn't keep it from last time.

    Boot to safe mode.

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and "end task" on this IF it is still running....

    C:\Program Files\Time Sync\time.exe

Click > Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs and uninstall the following program:

    C:\Program Files\Time Sync

Open HijackThis and click on Scan. Check the following entries IF they are present:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Time Sync] C:\Program Files\Time Sync\time.exe

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Rteu] C:\Documents and Settings\Windows XP\Application Data\usoe.exe

Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers, before clicking "Fix checked".

Delete the following Folder indicated in BLUE and File in RED IF they still exist:

    C:\Program Files\Time Sync
    C:\Documents and Settings\Windows XP\Application Data\usoe.exe

Reboot your System in normal mode.

Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

Please post a fresh HijackThis log, so that we can check your system, and let us know again how your system is behaving now. There may be more to do yet.
