Going to build my first PC.

I've been sitting around for quite a while, throwing together ideas for what I'd like to have in my PC. I've upgraded quite a few in my life, but never built one entirely from scratch. My budget will be in the $1000-$1200 range and will have to include a monitor (as at the moment I'm monitor-less).

I'd like a 64 bit AMD that's cost effective (as in it's not going to be more expensive than the bang I get per buck), and while I wouldn't mind overclocking, it is not a necessary thing to consider.

My main mission is to build a decent rig that will be easily upgraded in the future and allow me to play games at the upcoming SM-Lan, since my laptop is not a gaming machine.

So, shoot me your ideas guys, and help me out here. Anything you suggest I'll take into consideration. I'll be ordering parts on the 8th of July (and MAYBE EVEN OVERNIGHTING!)
