Modding a Duron to be an XP

It appears that you can mod the new Duron to be an Athlon XP.

    Well, for those who already have a Duron kicking around (and soon to go back into service for our folding team) any speed increase is worth it!

    Unfortunately, I believe my Duron 900 is too old to have the extra cache on the core.

    Yes, as far as I know this only applies to Durons with the new Applebred core.
    Not the old Spitfire and Morgan models.

    Unless the price discrepancy between the Duron and the XP becomes fairly large, I don't think I'd gamble buying a Duron in hopes of enabling the extra L2 to make it an XP. The Duron is going to be a low demand part, so there is going to be a low supply. Chances are that AMD will not make too many Durons from chips that could be XPs.
