FTP Server Issue

I am trying to run a FTP server from my house so that I can access my company files from any computer. If I use CMD on ANY computer, I can connect to the server. When I use IE, Mozilla, SmartFTP, or ANY othe GUI Based client, I can't connect. I am running on a Static IP so it's not an IP conflict. Any thoughts on what I might try?

Thanks In Advance

Could this be an issue to do with Passive and Active mode? I believe I had the same problem with my FTP due to being behind a router. I could use command line FTP fine, but everything else would try to stay in active mode and get stuck...

Smart FTP is set to run in Passive mode. My server accepts passive mode, but still nothing. Any other ideas? I can't ping my Server either, I had a source tell me that it might have something to do with ICMP. I'm not too familiar with it, so i don't know how to activate it or de-activate it. How would i find out if i was blocking ICMP?
