How do I remove a BAD SUBNET?

edited June 2005 in Science & Tech
I mistakenly allowed a bad subnet. It is ALEXA, and now I cannot remove it.. There are only messages telling me that I cannot remove or edit this bad thing. What do I do? HELP???!!!Please. I have a ZoneAlarm firewall, if that helps.

You are going to have to be a bit more specific. Do you mean, you allowed something called Alexa to have access through your Zone Alarm firewall?

Alexa is not necessarily bad, it tracks websites visited and reports it to a central site for rankings. It is not bad spyware in that sense. It helps advertisers get an idea of how popular a website is. It is commonly set up as a toolbar. Do you have this toolbar installed on your browser?

i wouldn't go on the internet with any less than this.

install all of the downloads that you go get in this directory.
C:\program files; in their own folder.
some programs will not work for you as the author intended if you install them on the desktop or in a temp. directory.
run adaware and spybot and tell them to fix everything that they find.

if you have never run anything like this before you will be surprised at how much they will find and remove.
after the first run at it with these tools, do it again a second time always!

adaware has an ADD IN called VX2 betterinternet REMOVAL TOOL, get it too and run it when you scan your PC on a REGULAR BASIS.

    POST BACK

    oh
    by the way
    all of these are free.

Just to add to whats been posted.

Ad-Aware SE detects and removes 'Alexia'. I've had Alexia on my comp and seen it on other comps. Ad-Aware SE will get rid of it. :)

Is it Alexa, or Alexia? 2 different things there.

You should probably run the standard anti-spyware apps, then if you still have a problem, post a Hijack This log, let us take a look...follow the instructions here:

    http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14915

If you do post a log file, post it here, and then if need be I will move this thread over to the SVT forum.
