Maxtor SATA PCI Card 150, bios not detected..HELP!
Hello Brainboxes,
its my first post here so please be gentle with me if i make any kind of mistakes but i felt this is the best place to post this kind of a problem.
Problem....
I have a Asus MB, with 2 sata connections that are used with a 250gb maxtor HDD and the other with a 200gb seagate barracuda HDD. I wanted to add to this with one of my old samsung 120gb HDD, so i bought a SATA PCI card 150 with an extra 2 sata slots on it.
I updated the drivers accordingly, and installed the card in one of the free PCI slots, the system was working ok at first with the post screen showing and the cards bios detecting the newly installed samsung 120gb hdd then automatically booting to windows. Like it should!? Everything was working correctly until i rebooted.
I now get the post screen where it detects the samsung HDD but displays a couple of lines below "Bios not found" and the system hangs.
Diagnostics...
I unplugged the SATA cable but left the card in PCI slot, and it does exactly the same with the same message stating that "Bios not found" the only difference is that it obvously does not detect any hdd.
I think what should happen is that it should boot straight to windows after that screen but it just seems to hang.
I have tried deleting the maxtor software off the system and reinstalling the drivers.
I then had another thought it could be a faulty PCI slot on MB so I tried plugging the SATA card into a different PCI slot on MB....Same message again!
I have even tried it with a different HDD connected to the card, but as i suspected the same thing happens.
Even after extensive research on the net i cannot find the answer, so i thought id try posting on this forum.
Please help as im at my wits end!! lol
Regards
Alex
