needing help with cpu...

I just bought an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Barton 400MHz FSB Socket A Processor from Newegg. What are the right settings to get it to the 2.1 GHz? I tried setting the FSB in bios to 200 then to 166 and it won't work. The board is an Epox 8RDA6+ Pro.

AFAIK. leaving the multiplier alone and setting the fsb should get you to the rated speed of your 3000/400 proc. Since the desktop K7 procs from AMD have been locked for over a year now, the multiplier adjustment (if your board has it) is useless and trying to set that might keep the system from booting. You might try setting the vcore to 1.65v and fsb to 200 in bios though. Maybe that board isn't setting the vcore correctly. You also might want to manually set your ram timings too. You didn't mention what kind of ram you are running; is it at least pc3200 ram?

I put in some better RAM and that took care of it. I forgot I just had some cheap RAM in there before.
