still trying to get clean

i have run Adaware build 1.06 and Spybot. I have placed my current HJT log below. I would appreciate your expert opinion on what to do to prevent the trojan infections.

    If you have not done so please make sure you can view all hidden files:

    Open my computer>click tools>click folder options>
    click view tab>check show hidden files>uncheck hide file extensions>
    click apply>click OK>exit

    Post a new log when finished.

    OK. did housecall and ewido. Housecall ran for quite awhile and then a popup said i was infected and all the housecall windows shut down. I dont' know what it found.

    Let's try running spybot and Ad-Aware se in safe mode. Be sure that you have the latest updates for each. To enter safe mode>reboot>at start up screen tap f8>select safe mode from the menu.

    Run a full scan with ad-aware and spybot.

    Remove any files found.

    Reboot and run activescan.

    Post a new log when finished.

    Ack!!! I ran Adaware and Spybot in safe mode. Both found something. However, Huntbar is not cleared. I then ran activescan after rebooting. It too stopped when it hit the virus and shut all browsers. Here is the log after that.

    What scan located the huntbar infection?

    I do not see any entries in your log that suggests you have huntbar.

    How many toolbars do you use?

    Spybot always finds it and can never remove it. I reboot after the first scan and do it again - still there.

    Did you reboot after running Spybot S&D like it stated on screen?

    Check and see if their is an entry in your add/remove programs listed as huntbar. If there is any entry in there that doesn't look right let me know.

    Once you have removed the huntbar registry entry try running one of the online scans again. Let me know if it is able to run the full scan.

    Also, you should update Spybot to the current version of 1.4. You can download that here:

    Uninstall the old version first then install the new version. Update Spybot with the latest definitions and run a full scan.

    OK. Here is what I have found. I am following the remove Huntbar instructions.
    1. didn't find any of the HKEY's listed first.
    2. the only .dll's i found are shown on the attached screen shot. I found three toolbar.dll's. i have also shown you that it can't find them using dos.

    I will continue to try and locate the other 2 thru dos, but then it's time to reboot.

    Updated Spybot to 1.4, added updates, ran full scan. CLEAN! Hmmm....maybe i don't have huntbar after all!

    I don't know what happened to my last post. I tried to use the instructions on removing Huntbar and created the attached screen print. I'm going to try to flush the registry some more even tho I was unsuccessful with step 1.

    Once the download is complete then run the setup file. Once installation is complete open regcleaner. At the top of the screen click on Tools>registry cleanup>automatic registry cleanup>when it finishes click on remove selected at the lower right hand portion of your screen. Remove all entries found. This will only locate old/unused registry entries. It is a good idea to back up your registry before performing this operation.

    The huntbar item located is more than likely an old infection and that registry item was never removed.

    Your log looks clean! Let me know if you were able to complete one of the online scans.

    Using regcleaner ,in software list, I found an entry btiein. I removed it. Looks like leftover huntbar. I also found tons o Kazaa. I removed all that.

    I'll try on of the online scans again this afternoon

    Save it to your desktop then unzip it and show all files. Run cleanup and have it remove all temp files and cookies.

    If they exist in the add/remove programs please uninstall New.Net and Viewpoint/Viewpoint Media.

    Then delete the following files or direcotries that are in italics if they exist. Please boot up in safe mode for this:

    does the * mean delete anything that includes the path you showed? or does it need to have the * associated?
