This may sound dumb, but is the CD scratched?

If the actual media is not the problem, check your BIOS to make sure your CD drive is set correctly (and that the jumper on the CD drive is either on CABLE SELECT or MASTER). Then make sure the master cable is plugged into the CD drive (not sure if that's necessary, but something to check). then make sure it's plugged in firmly into the motherboard.

My jumpers are set right and my cables are plugged in theres no problem there. its when I try to load xp or the driver on the other cd. with xp i get to the point were it has install xp, repair xp, and exit setup window, when I select install it gives me the error message :wtf: it may be because im still using my old hard drive that has xp pro instead of xp home
