thats dedication to the team to fold that one. I doubt it will take that long unless its running on a really really old machine.

When it finishes a couple of frames it should sort out.

It's on an Athlon XP 3000+ (2.1GHz) with 512MB RAM. Not too old, I got it in January.

Those couple of frames will take 33 days =/

That is definitely not right for that kind of hardware. Are you sure folding is using the bulk of your cpu? What does your task manager look like?

It just finished 1 frame at 137 mins/frame. That was slowed down too because I was playing a game online for about an hour. It should be around 70/frame idle.

Here's my taskmanager. I could clean it up a bit but folding is still taking 100% CPU as it is.

Do you have a dual processor computer?

    I don't think so... it's Athlon XP 3000+

theres your problem right there... why are you running two instances of FAH on an AXP machine? you only need to run one instance per every cpu or virtual cpu - i.e. for a P4 with hyperthreading you need 2, for a regular old athlon xp you only need 1. close one down

Thanks. I've always ran two though and the WU's usually go at about 9:30 per frame.

Yeah, you're not going to produce any faster running 2 at a time - and sometimes it will be slower. 1 instance at a time :D

When I deleted the second core it kept recreating so I think I solved it by ending tree on the second core and renaming it.

instead of doing it that way, go into the services and disable the second service. That will permanently end it.

    Didn't think of that :)

EDIT: What is the service called? I can't find it.

Second frame and it says 51:05 per frame now... not as bad as 11 days! ;D

The services are named something like folding@home_cpu1 - i'm guessing, but if you see it you should recognize it. It has something to do with folding.

Hey, you can use HJT to remove the service, you should be good at that ;D

The only thing that shows in services.msc and HJT is the console, not the core.

Also I'm down to 30:55 per frame if it matters :)

Well it didnt' come back after I renamed it, even after rebooting multiple times. Thanks again. It's down to 15:39 per frame and should be done in about 14 hours.

I kinda like the thought of a 4 year wu. It should be worth 6 million points... ;D

That's the first time I have ever seen the screen saver shot - kind of neat. ;) Jack

That's not a screensaver, it's the one that runs in your systray that can be opened up
