Here are some quick questions that can help the pro's fiqure out what is going on.

What type of computer are you using?
What service pack are you using?
Do you run windows update regularly?
    Do you have a firewall?
Have you updated all of your current software and drivers?
When did your computer start going crazy?
What where you doing before this started happening?
What else have you tryed to fix the problem?
What programs did you have on your computer before this started?
What programs do you have on your computer now?
What error messages have you recieved?

And by just looking at your log I can already see some spyware but im not going to say anything else about that I let the Short-Media team help you on that one.

    Good Luck.

sorry I said that because I have 2 harddrives and when I reinstalled XP on my main harddrive and ran the HiJack Log none of the stuff on my other harddrive showed up.

The programs ran just fine but none of it was in my registry at all. :)

hmmm so no one is gonna help me....... thats nice.

This is the crap you wanted to know.

Type of computer is custom built like 4 years ago so its a piece of crap.
Service pack meaning what versions of windows then 98
I dont know how to update windows
Yes i have a firewall but it doesnt work recently... says im missing a file
How the hell do i update all my software and drivers
Piece of **** started going crazy days after i got it but i can usually fix whatever the hell is wrong with it. Malware wont come the **** out.
What was i doing? Ill be honest. Playing diablo 2 and downloading a ****load of music.

What have i tried to fix the problem? Virus scan, scan disc, 2 different spyware scans and some other crap that i doubt would help but i tried it anyway. clean up programs and **** like that

Listing the programs i use would takes days so ill just say the main ones. Mainly i play diablo 2 and i download a maphack for the game when i need a new one and the bastards like to come with a trojan or keylogger sometimes. i dunno why the hell people do that ****. Only other program i use is winamp.

Error messages... hmmm. When i try to open an IM box in aim i get an illegal ****ing operation every time and it says thats from spyware. faggots.... details on the illegal operation are something about kernel.dll or some waste of time bull****. Im gonna follow the last instructions and then edit this post and add my new log.

"hmmm so no one is gonna help me....... thats nice."

I posted removal instructions above but you never responded to them.

    "downloading a ****load of music."

Downloading music illegally is pretty risky... not just in terms of law. The higher risk is the chance of getting some type of malware. If you're going to do this you need to know what you're downloading.

    Your log is now clean!

As precaution measures for the future, please follow these steps to ensure that your computer stays clean and secure:
    1. Always have AntiVirus software running - Having an AntiVirus is very important and can protect you in the future from all kinds of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

    2. Keep your AntiVirus program updated - Without having an updated AntiVirus program you will be susceptible to any form of new malware as it is released. If your AntiVirus software has the option of Automatic Updates you should enable it. If not, visit the producer's website at least once a week and download any updates for the product.

    3. Use a Firewall - Using a firewall is essential in the Internet today. Having one at default settings will block intruders from accessing your computer and can block new programs from installing without your consent.

    4. WindowsUpdate - Make sure that you keep your computer updated by visiting [link=http://www.windowsupdate.com]windowsupdate.com[/link] weekly, and downloading any critical updates. Many of these updates are against hackers and malware installations. Without all critical updates you will be susceptible to many of the spyware creator's tricks to get you to install their software. Download and install all critical updates and reboot your computer. Continue this until all critical updates have been installed.

    5. Anti-Spyware Software - Spybot - Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware SE

Both of these programs are free and reccomended by many anti-spyware professionals. You should download them from the links below, keep them updated, and scan weekly.

      Spybot - Search & Destroy
      Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.06

    6. Secure Internet Explorer - Spyware Shooter is a free program which I developed for the cause of blocking malicious websites from installing spyware onto your computer. Please check for updates weekly and download any new releases to make sure that you are safe against newly-disovered websites.

    How to say "thanks":
    1. Donations are not accepted - At Short-Media we do not accept donations. If you have found this website helpful, you can contribute in the following ways.
    2. Stick Around - Without users like you, Short-Media would not be as successful as it is today. One way you can thank us is to stick around the forums. :D You guys are awesome. No more downloading music for me. Or at least not without scanning it after :D Sorry about all the hostility i just was really pissed off that every time i delete the file i got on my ctrl+alt+del screen another one would replace it. What kind of infection was this?:confused::confused::confused: Whatever it was it was really annoying. Thank you for the help man/woman? lol. Just a few questions. My firewall i have now hates me so do you know where i can get one? I used kaspersky or however u spell that. And about having anti virus running at all time i usually close everything but explorer and my internet connection because my computer is a pile and i need everything closed to play my game. I usually scan at least once a week with spyware and virus thingy so i think ill be fine. Thank you so much for the help. I hope your site does well.

Ah 1 more thing. How did you know which .dll to delete?

You had a Home Search Assistant infection. It is known to be quite hard to remove at times. Try the Norton firewall. I believe they have a free 30 day trial of it online but if not it's only like $30 at any electronic shop. The .dll file is listed in the HJT log. You will note the O# or R# (Where # is replaced by a number) then "-", a name, and a file. The file listed is the one you need to delete. Determining which ones are good and which are bad takes some practice but there are plenty of websites that will tell you their status.
