I need to know how to test to see if cpu is fried? I turn on the computer and the fan starts, but it immediately shuts off. To turn it on, you have to use the switch on the back of the pc? The front switch nor the reset work.

    Kathmill, please post your system specs. Where'd you get this computer? Did you build it?

    are the front switch and reset switch plugged into the pin headers on the motherboard? look in your motherboard manual and make sure you hooked them up correctly

    best way to test for a fried cpu is to try it out in a known working system

    No I did not build someone else did, I am just looking at it for a friend. nothing except the hard drive had been taken out by another person.
