Default Printer keeps changing - by itself!

edited July 2005 in Science & Tech
We've got two laser printers set up here at work (campus computer lab), a color (HP-8500) and a black and white (HP-4050). On our Windows machine image, the black and white printer is set up as the default. And it's fine, once the image is installed.

Until the administrator logs off. Then, the color printer magically becomes the default.

Any idea how to fix this, without going through every profile on every machine?

is the black and white printer still default when the administrator logs in again? or has that switched to the color one also?

Nope. It changes back to color for all users, including the administrator account.

Having the same, very odd, problem here. It's extremely frustrating because I devote one printer for checks only, and that's the printer "it" keeps making the default printer. I have ruined countless pages of checks.

I am the only user of this computer, so there is no logging in or out. The default printer stays correct for a few days and then, suddenly, it's changed.

    Can anyone help??

    Thanks!
