Help needed with about:blank CWS.MSConfig

Dear forum members - Help me please !
My computer was recently infected with the about:blank trojan. NAV 2005 detected a trojan (currently blaming C:\windows\system32\mfcpq.exe) but is unable to remove it. Scanning at the safe mode crashed with the dreaded blue screen. CWShredder identified CWS.MSConfig as the culprit. I ran AdAware SE & Spybot S&D 1.4 (both with the latest downloadable versions and definitions) to no avail.
Can you please help me get rid of the infestation ? Can you suggest a terrible skin disorder for the guys who invented the trojan ? I attach the HJT log.
Many thanks in advance, Yarotman

You are using an outdated version of Hijackthis.
Please download the current version of Hijackthis and post a new hijackthis log.

Do not attach your hijackthis log. Copy the text and paste it here into the body of your message so it can be easily read.

OK, No need for reply - I think I managed to get rid of it by myself. That is, by reading a few links and threads on this site and getting the hang of it. So you guys still deserve a very VERY big thank you
Note for those interested in following up these spyware/trojans - CWSShredder identified the infection as CWS.MSConfig. Spybot S&D identified it as CWS.Aff.Winshow. However, the results of HJT do not support either. Is it a new variant ? The infecting website was one dealing with medications - so it's not only porn ans warez to blame.
And obviously - I am starting to fold. So many thanks again and keep up the good posts

Yarotman, can you please send me the link to the infecting website through Private Message?

Different programs have different terms they use for what is commonly known as HSA(Home Search Assistant). It is a CoolWebSearch infection and very common. Hijackthis does show it very clearly in your log. There are many different variants in the wild right now. Most are fairly simple to remove if you have the right tools and know what you are looking for.

You just have to be sure that you get it all at once, because if you miss one file it will reinstall the entire infection and you have to start all over again.
