can't adjust monitor

I've just bought an IBM 6549 OAN 19" Monitor second hand, but I can't adjust the brightness, contrast, screen size etc with the buttons on the front it just comes up saying "OSD CONTROL IS LOCKED" .... does anyone know how to unlock it ??
