Looking for help in removing spyware off of my pc.

Hi all,

I am new to the community and I found all the information posted interesting and helpful. I know that I have a bunch of junk on my pc that I am looking to remove. The first place to start is the elimination of the spyware lurking around. Having Norton AntiVirus and Ad-aware 6.0 along with a firewall apprently is not enough. So, can you help? I did download HijackThis as suggested to other users who had similiar problems. Here is the log:

    You've got several different infections in your log and each will require different instructions. I just want you to be aware that this will take a few steps.

    How long have you had Norton? Is it updated? I ask because you have signs of the Blaster worm in your log.

    Please download this removal tool.
    http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FixBlast.exe

    Run it twice with a reboot in between.

    ================

    Click Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs and uninstall this program if listed.

    New.net Application
    or
    New.net Domains

    If neither is listed, download and run this tool.

    http://www.new.net/support/uninstall6_38.exe

    =================

    Reboot and post a new hijackthis log.

    Hi Buckeye,

    I ended up downloading the following link:
    http://securityresponse.symantec.co...er/FixBlast.exe
    Ran the program and rebooted my PC. Windows could not load due to a file missing. I believe it was a system32.dll file. I will respond with the correct file name as I wrote it down on a piece of paper that I do not have at the moment. I ended up re-loading Windows XP back onto my computer. In doing so, I had to reformat my entire hard drive. No worries as I had all my programs and files back up to CD's already. So, reformatting my hard drive takes care of the spyware problems, right?

    If you formatted your hard drive then yes, the spyware should be gone along with everything else. Just be sure that you visit Windows update and install all critical updates right away. I strongly recommend installing SP2.
