So today i was on this program called trillian, its for Aim, Msn,yahoo messangers (very trusted, ive had it for a long time). but i received a random im from the screen name "xfmetzgermeister" trying to send me a file called like **e*123*...... [all kinds of random letters].exe so i asked "who r u" and they sent me the file again like 20 times and then i got kicked off. so i logged back on and blocked them, then immedaitly i got another im from "Fishyvagina" (im sorry if this violates the rules, its the screen name) and they typed a message with really weird writting, and i got kicked off again and a message came up from my trillian program saying "error with file of this directory, c:/program files/Trillian/crash files/ crash111214567. so i went and looked and the file had been added today from those ppl that imed me, so i deleted the file. I decided to post this just for people to know they might want to block this memeber right away if they ever got a im.

Ja, you should never accept files from people that you don't know over any messenger service. It should protect everyone pretty well to go into the options and turn on "always prompt before accepting files from other users" every service has this option, including trillian.

Also, just like with E-mail spam, you should never actually reply to someone who spams you on a messenger service.

If someone messages you that you don't know, simply close the box, and don't respond. Responce in anyway will just let them know that you are vulnerable, even blocking them, will let them know that you are there, so that they can log on as someone else, and spam you some more, as happened above.

Remember that there are somethings that they can only do if you have responded to them at least once, like warning you over AIM, so don't even ask who they are, just ignore them, and they'll usually go away. It's no fun to 'hack' someone who is not even there...
