Laptop restarts the instant it turns on
Hey guys I know its been a while since I posted here but I am having trouble with my brother in laws laptop. It is a presario compaq 2170US. I am usually pretty good with repairs but I have never dealt with a laptop. He was using windows XP when it displayed an error message that told him to press CNTR+ALT+DEL. He pressed it now the computer simply restarts the instant you turn it on. It will power up for about a second, the lights will come on, and the fan will start, then it turns off and repeats the process indefinatly until you pull the battery, or the AC cable (whichever is being used.) The LCD remains blank the entire time. Any help would be much apreciated, thanks guys.
