Regedit not working, Cannot create recovery disk, Thought I was clean!
Hi there, I posted "A whole load of bother" 25th June approx and was deemed clean of viruses, trojans and adware yet I cannot run regedit (comes up as MS-Dos then refuses to work) and I cannot create a recovery disk (doesn't do anything when I click on create backup in system properties).
I have searched for help on the forum before posting. In the threads that are relevant the members have not posted back to say whether help offered was successful.
I am currently running Bit defender online scan. No probs so far.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Am using XP professional edition
Thanks
Nic

nicnkel,
I have seen that there has not been any action on this post since the 4th.
first, go to start find type in regedit . there should be only one regedit.exe. there is proably a regiedit.com or some other extension other then exe. if so delete everything execept the regedit.exe and reboot and run regedit after that. I am going to close this thread. If you should come back needing new help make a new post referencing this thread. someone will be happy to assist you.
have a great day and a better tomorrow.
