mouse pointer moves off the screen

edited July 2005 in Science & Tech
I am able to move my mouse pointer off the screen, but only to the right. If I move my mouse up, the pointer is stopped by the confines of the monitor's display area. The same if I move the mouse left or down, the pointer stops. But If I move my mouse/mouse pointer to the right, it just keeps on going, as if the screen extended another screen's length to the right. I can move my mouse across the mouse pad 3 times to the right, but the mouse pointer only moves about another screen's length to the right (It doesn't take 3 mouse movements across the pad to the left to see the pointer again).

This is a very annoying problem, especially since the slide bar is on the right hand side, and I keep on overshooting it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm running Windows XP home edition.

Can you use the monitors screen controls to move the screen?

That wouldn't effect where he could actually move the mouse though, the screen would also look very wrong if the monitor was set up badly.

Go into Display Properties then into Settings. See if it has multiple monitors listed and make sure "Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" isn't ticked.

On both of my puters the mouse will just barely disappear to the right and the bottom but not the top or left. I just think needs to reduce his pointer speed and/or acceleration. I have never had a problem with it.

I tried to find the option "Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" I couldn't find it. Could you give me specific directions?

THANK YOU... that did it. I had 2 monitor settings.. "blah blah blah " Radeon and "blah blah blah" Radeon secondary. That option was greyed out for the Radeon, but was checked for the secondary. I unchecked it and it solved the nuisance.

To get to that screen, I right clicked on the desktop, clicked properties, then went to the "settings" tab. Good luck all.
