Looking for a universal driver download package.

I advertise in my local area for doing some computer repairs. Normally I'll go to someone's house and end up reloading software, cleaning out a bunch of spyware, hooking up printers or something like that, or most commonly, just doing a complete reformat / reinstall if they don't have anything critical stored on their system. Easiest way to get rid of spyware / adware!

It's a few extra bucks now and then. Nothing regular or to live off of.

But one of the biggest annoyances is that most of the people don't hang onto their driver CDs. Some do, but not many. Then if I can't yet access the internet because their motherboard or modem or ethernet card drivers aren't present, I have to go home or take the tower home, get the drivers off the web, burn to CD, transfer it to the other computer, and bring it back. A real pain in the ass.

So I'm wondering if there are any large driver downloads out there anywhere. Something that would cover lots of ethernet cards, modems, video cards, motherboard drivers, etc. It would save me a lot of hassle. Size isn't an issue, it's not MY hard drive space it'd be taking up!

I just want to get the damn thing working quickly and properly, with as little effort on my part as possible.

What I usually do is periodically download all of the most common files (nVidia & ATi video, chipset drivers for nVidia, Intel and VIA, AC97 & SoundBlaster audio, etc), and burn them to CD. I also make sure I have my WinXP CD with me - it does a pretty good job with NIC's & modems.

If you have a laptop you could always drag that along for onsite downloading when the customer has no Internet connectivity. Get a free dial-up service in case they don't have cable/DSL.
