I recently had to buy a new mobo because of a bad power surge...

When i hooked everything up everything was working fine, i installed the drivers. But then theres one...in the "Add Hardware Wizard" there is an "Unknown Device" i dont know what it is and i've installing it from all the CD's i have, to no luck.

So, im thinking that the Unknown Device might have something to do with why my speakers arent working.
**when i turn my speakers on from the back, they make a sound... so its not a problem with the speakers.

I have a:
P4P800 SE Motherboard
and Pulse 475 Labtec Speakers

And when i go the the "sounds and audio devices" in the Control Panel, it says that my speakers arent even hooked up to the comp- when, they really are.

"S and AD" concerns the source of the sound, your sound card (or integrated) and not the speakers.
    Go to control pannel-system-hardware-device mangler-sound...
Is there a sound output device listed?
You may need to try and install just this device.
Actually, uninstall first and then re-install.

you mean the Sounds, Video, and Game Controllers section?
I checked for updates on all 5 of the things under that section and it says theres no updates.

You should have this driver: SoundMAX Audio Driver version 5.12.01.3630 WHQL driver

If not, go to the ASUS webpage and download it from their support.
