I can't burn a cd. Please help.

I'm trying to burn a cd but keep having some problems.

Eveytime I try to burn a cd, it keeps telling me to insert a blank cd-r. Sometimes it tells me to lower my speed and try a different brand of blank discs.

I have lowered my speed to the lowest setting and have tried three different brands of blank discs.

Maybe I need to download a program or something? Any help would be great.

    try using HT Fireman CD/DVD Burner. Its free off Download.com, and I've used it a few times on other people's computers.

    What burning software are you using right now?
    Have you updated it recently?
    Did the drive work before, then stop? Or is it a brand new drive?
    Does the drive Read discs alright?
    What does it say about DMA for the IDE Channel where the drive is attached?
