My Documents Icons

I arrange the Icons in the folders of My Documents by the order of how much I use it. For example, the Fax Cover Sheet & Letterhead I use often are put first. But everytime I reboot the computer it rearranges them to be lined up alphabetically. I have auto arrange turned off so I don't know why this keeps happening. Any help would be appreciated.

    Folders always display in order by one of the headings. Only the items on the desktop can be arranged in whatever order that you want... and even then, if you view those items in the folder where they actually reside with the file browser, they will be in alphabetical order by default.

    To my knowledge, this is not something that you can tweak.

    It's not the most elegant solution, but you could add a numerical prefix to the folders you want to appear at the top of the list.

    For example:

    001-Fax Cover Sheet etc
    005-Whatever
    010-Another Folder
    015-Example Four
    020-You Get The Idea


    The reason I skipped some numbers is that should you decide to change the order around (or add a new folder) you can just slide it in wherever you want without having to renumber them all.
