Games suddenly won't run in full screen

Dear Short Media,

I wonder if you can help.

Since about a week ago my machine has decided it won't run any sort of game/learning application in full screen mode.

I am confused as it is a very new pc, with the highest specs...i.e. 3.3. ghz processor, p4, Nvidia G force FX, 200 gb HDD.

Why has this suddenly happened and what can I do to rectify this?

    What does it do exactly, run in a window?

    Well, what happens is it tries to run in full screen, tries again, flashes, then eventually comes back to windows, or crashes the system.

    They will run in a window, but some games require you to configure this once you've started them up, so I can only run certain games..
