Pentium D for Servers?

It looks as if Intel wants something to compete with AMD in the dual core server market. They have yet to release any dual core Xeons so theie choice was to make a new chipset, the Intel E7230, for entry level servers. Mukilteo is the codename of the new chipset and is 64-bit compatible.
The E7230 comes with the ability to handle 64-bit operating systems such as the Windows XP x64 Edition from Microsoft, advanced dynamic computer memory, faster data transfers via PCI Express and software that emulates storage through the redundant array of independent disks.

Server manufacturers such as Dell and Hewlett-Packard are expected to sell the new Pentium D servers to run simple network server applications such as a Web server or a small database.
With dual-core Xeons not expected until Q1 '06, this is Intel's quick solution to get some dual-core Intel servers available.

YEA. OK. FACT: AMD ACCOMPLISHED THIS A LONG TIME AGO. RAID IS GREAT, BUT ITS SLOW, AND AMD CAN DO THAT TOO ANYWAYS SO BIG DEAL. DELL CAN GO TAKE ITS CELERONS AND BURN. THE DUAL CORE XEON WILL PROB BE GOD-AWFULLY EXPENSIVE BECAUSE ALL INTEL CHIPS ARE, AND VERY WELL LIKELY COULD END UP BEING BEAT BY A NORMAL DUAL CORE X2 THAT HAS A DECENT AMOUNT OF RAM. WHOO HO YAY FOR INTEL WITH THEIR 2000 DOLLAR FLAGSHIP THAT ONLY CORPORATIONS COULD AFFORD!!!!WAY TO GO!

software raid?? that seems a *tad* low end. it would have to be a quite small company to use one of those. most comapanies would just rather spend all their money of a dual xeon or clawhammer server.
