RAM or MOBO? :(

edited July 2005 in Hardware
My friend has a 2001 Gateway that was originally packaged with 128MB PC133 SDRAM. He recently decided to upgrade and was having a problem booting the system with the new 256MB stick. The original 128 stick was placed back in and the system still gives the same error. No video, and 3 beeps (not recognizing any RAM at all.) It was suggested that I clear the CMOS, but that's also boggling. There are 2 jumpers on the board (which is an Intel D845HV), one for the onboard sound and one that just 'configures' the BIOS. This computer needs to be up working this week! :wtf:

Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks.
