A Note and a warning-- Kernel 2.6.0-test5 available.

This one is NOT for those not on the forefront of dev or who do not need the following and cannot roll back to a previous kernel easily
The following article might be interesting to those who are very much able to handle kernel rollovers (forwards and backwards) and who want to test the following:
Futex dev
USB gadget dev
ARM and ppc improvements dev
http://kerneltrap.org/node/view/823
This article is primarily a patch howto from 2.6.0-test4 to 2.6.0-test5. Linus commented as follows on this kernel:
"Lots of small stuff, as usual. I think the biggest "core" change is the Futex changes by Jamie and Hugh, and the dev_t preparations by Al Viro. But there are ARM and ppc updates here too, and a few drivers have bigger fixes (tg3 driver and the USB gadget interface stand out on diffstat). Watchdog driver updates etc. And Russell King fixed more PCMCIA issues."
~tk might be interested, for instance, and perhaps lightning and Rob (unknown if these last two are same person). I have a working online box without this kernel right now and will not be participating in testing, but one thing Mandrake is talking about in dev circles is implementing kernel 2.6 ASAP when available. Discussion is leading toward 2.6 in Mandrake 9.2 possibly, or possibly the next version after that.
John.

1. It's their choice and can do whatever they want.
2. Something about it doesn't sit right with me.
