Nail.exe need help please

I cant figure out how to get rid of the random letters thing that comes with it but i did manage to delete nail.exe itself, i have ran ad aware SE and spybot search & destroy, any help would be appreciated

You have some entries there that need removing.

Let's look for, and delete, any program segments(prefetches) that might be present, and are associated with the 'problems' we're trying to remove from this system. To do this, let's:

1) Click "Start | Search", then search for each of these program's base name(s), in all files and folders:

mpgcoina.exe*

2) Then if any are found in the 'prefetch' folder, delete them.

Look closely, since the 'base' name will have a bunch of random numbers and letters attached to it.

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click "Open the Misc Tools Section"
2. Click "Open Process manager"

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

i could not find many of these files you listed but i did find a few and when i tried deleting nail.exe it just came back in the same spot anyway here is my hjt log also thx for the help

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Please download Nailfix from here:
http://users.pandora.be/bluepatchy/nailfix.exe
It will self-extract to the desktop, but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK.
Save the logfile from the scan.

Next please run HijackThis, click Scan, and check:

Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click Fix Checked.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

Download Killbox v2.0.0.175 and unzip the file to your Desktop and have it ready to use.

Save all the below files to a text document (notepad) to be used shortly.

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here.

Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows and hit the "Fix checked" button.

Open the text file you saved previously and right click and drag your cursor over the files to highlight them and then use Control+C to copy them to the clipboard..
Open KILLBOX and go to File...."Paste From Clipboard". All the files should now appear in the box (click on the Tab and check to make sure that only the files I have identified as malware and marked for deletion are there) . Then checkmark the "Delete on Reboot" box..and click the red X. You will get a message saying "File will be deleted on next reboot" , Process and Reboot now?" Click "Yes" and post a new log when you have rebooted.

Cool. Just right click on your desktop and select NEW then text file.
Copy the above to the text file and hit the 'X' at top right to close it. A pop up will ask if you want to save it. Answer 'yes.'

ok i repeated step #4 i dont know if it makes any difference but i use start>run>msconfig>click on the boot.ini tab and check /safeboot to go to safe mode because i cant seem to get it to go to safe mode the normal way

the one you mentioned in your last post c:\windows\system32\ptbrutu.exe renames itself if i end process and pops back up in task manager everytime so i cant delete it even in safe mode it pops up it seems nail is gone again for the moment after i repeated step #4 anyway here is my new hjt log

Download Killbox v2.0.0.175 and unzip the file to your Desktop and have it ready to use.

Save all the below files to a text document (notepad) to be used shortly.

Reboot into safe mode following the instructions here.

Scan with hijackthis and tick the boxes next to all the following entries, then close all browser and explorer windows and hit the "Fix checked" button.

Open the text file you saved previously and right click and drag your cursor over the files to highlight them and then use Control+C to copy them to the clipboard..
Open KILLBOX and go to File...."Paste From Clipboard". All the files should now appear in the box (click on the Tab and check to make sure that only the files I have identified as malware and marked for deletion are there) . Then checkmark the "Delete on Reboot" box..and click the red X. You will get a message saying "File will be deleted on next reboot" , Process and Reboot now?" Click "Yes" and post a new log when you have rebooted.

Run hijackthis and hit the Open the Misc Tools Section and then the Open Uninstall Manager.

Then hit the Save List button. Save to the desktop for easy access. Open the log file and copy the entire list and paste it here please.

Copy the bold text below and paste it into notepad. Save it to your desktop as find.bat and make sure type is set to All Files.

I need you to go to add/remove programs and uninstall The ABI Network- A Division of Direct Revenue.
Go to your Program Files folder and see what this is for me please; Aprps. I am thinking it could be Apropos, but may be something legitimate. If it is Apropos you will need to delete the folder.

if i want to remove ABI it says i have to get an uninstall tool from www.mypctuneup.com should i trust it and follow its instructions?

i have no clue what aprps is or was but it was a hidden folder with its own uninstall file so i just had it uninstall then i deleted the entire folder ill let you know if anything happens when i get home gotta go to work now.

That ABI may well be an orphaned entry as I see no sign of it in your program files where one would expect it to be.

Go here and download and run Silent Runners.vbs. It generates a log, please post the information back in this thread.
If you have a script blocking program, please allow the file to run. It is not malicious.

Not seeing anything in that log .

Try doing a system search of your PC for ABI Network and Direct Revenue and see if it turns up any results. It may well have installed somewhere other than the Program Files.

If you cannot find any other reference to it, do the following;

Set a system restore point.
Click Start > Run > Type or copy & paste regedit. The registry editor will open.
Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and delete the The ABI Network- A Division of Direct Revenue entry in the right hand pane.

haha you got it i checked regedit and it was listed in a folder called abi 1 i think my pc is alright now as i havent had a popup in awhile now thanks for the help

anyway i will let you know if i get any other popups or anything like that i cant get rid of. if i have anymore problems ill know where to go
