ip addresses and stuff...

im new here, and didnt quite know where to post this, but i was searchign google, and found a thread in this site about getting ip addresses through aim. i can direct connect with some one and go to command prompt and type net stat -n, and see that there are sonnections and stuff.....but what is there to do once your there? i mean, ive read about how you can fool with people like that, but what can you actually do when you get this far? im confused on the whole command thing still....can some people help me?
