Battlefield 2 Woes....
Where I live there has been a power surge or flicker once or more at least everyday now... dunno why either becuase it didn't happen before. Plus today was special... our water was shut off for some unknown reason for several hours.
So I played Battlefield 2.
I played until the power forced my system to reboot in the middle of the game... I was justa bout to launch an missile up this one guys - you know what. When all of a sudden FLICKER! After that the system degraded slowly until things in the game flickered on and off. Buildings, vehicles, people, trees...... ENEMIES.
I complain because I just had to reinstall the game last night becuase of this VERY issue. Yesterday the near exact same thing occured, and the night before as well. Each time I had to resolve it by reinstalling the game..... it's not a quick install with the three CD's it requires and it's not as long as Half Life 2 or Unreal 2004.... but doing it once a day everyday is NOT FUN.
I would almost preferr it to be what the guys I play with wanna say it is becuase they hate ATI.... which is of course that ATI sucks and that is what i am using... therefore it cannot be anything but ATI's fault. They know nothing of reason of deduction. If the game plays fine after an install... for several hours until a power failure, in which the game eventually degrades over a few minutes till the game in nearly unplayable becuase you cannot see your enemies.... IT IS NOT THE CARD IT'S THE GAME SCREWING UP BECUASE OF A STUPID POWER FAILURE! I don't care that NVidia sucks... or that ATI sucks... THEY MAY VERY WELL BOTH SUCK FOR ALL I CARE I JUST WANNA PLAY A WORKABLE VIDEO GAME THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE A REINSTALL EVERY DAY!
I don't know what to blame right now.
I wanna blame EA, for building a game that breaks easily and that works flawlessly for me in every way until it breaks becuase of a simple power failure which has never resulted before, in any other game I can think of, to break and force you to reinstall.
I wanna blame my power company for giving us such wanderful power lines that frequently harm my system despite an nice power surge protector.
I wanna blame my job... for not paying me enough to buy a UPS.
I wanna blame myself. For being addicted to a game that I hate which was made by a company I hate even more for never finishing a product. Yet wants to develope expansion packs for the unfinished games they make. I can't believe I used to stick up for them. :shakehead
I wanna rant so much about to much more... but I'll leave it at that.

The only suggestion I have is updating (or rolling back) your video drivers. I used to have the terrain dissappear in BF1942 on my Radeon until a driver release fixed it. Doesn't sound like quite the same problem, but it's worth a try.
Tonight I had the last straw, this is too much bull****. Whether or not it's the game, or my graphics card... I DON'T CARE!!!
This is a sign that I have better things to do than to yell at the game loud enough for my dad to come upstairs and bitch to me about my language. :shakehead
