Hey guys sorry for all of the questions recently, but I finally am going to buy my new video card tommorow and its really bugging me which one to get. Alright Im deciding between the regular evga nvidia 6800 which is $190 at newegg, or the radeon x800 xl which I can get from a friend who works at a computer store for $250.

Ok now heres the thing that really annoys me. Right here http://firingsquad.com/hardware/evga_e-geforce_6800/page4.asp there are a series of benchmarks done using several video cards, on several different games. Of those cards the evga 6800 128mb, and the x800 xl agp cards are both tested. On average if you look at the graphs the x800 xl scores a higher fps than the 6800, but not by much. Occasionally on a few games the 6800 128mb even has higher framerates. I've never used each card, so I'm just basing it off of these results, and the cards core clockspeed, and the mem speed. The x800 xl(256mb and all 16 pipelines) doesnt really seem all that much better than the regular 6800(128 mb and 12 pipelines) according to the benchmarks, so which card do you guys think i should buy. I have the money for the x800 xl, but unless you guys think its much better, I'd rather go with the cheaper 6800. Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :D

Remember to check out the benchmarks also. thanks

I currently own a X800xl. I formerly owned a 6800GT. I don't really benchmark much, but from real world experience I can't honestly see much differece between them. Sure, in certain games one card was faster than the other, but overall they seem to be on par. This was compared to a 6800gt, which should be quite a bit faster than the 6800 you're looking at.

If I were you I would spend the extra and get the ATI card. I'm sure others will have different opinions, but that is mine.
