Statsman stats (temporary ?)

I just found this over at amdmb's folding forum..
For now, you can try this;
Look in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.
You should find a file called hosts.
Open with notepad and add the line

208.170.149.150 statsman.org www.statsman.org

Save and close.
Statsman should now work

I just tried it and it works. Looks to be a day behind though.


There is also this info:
* Statsman should be back up and running soon. So says Randy (StatsMan) [H]ands; "I should be able to re-register the domain on about the 14th, so sometime during the week of Sept. 15th statsman.org should be working again."

    statsman.org is defunct.

    Just to stop all the speculation and rumors.

    Apparently someone else wanted the statsman.org domain so bad that they used one of those domain snipping sites to get it the moment that it was available. Therefore, I no longer have the statsman.org domain.

    In light of this and other personal matters (like trying to keep my job during more layoffs at my company, stock ticker LU) I am going to take a break from distributed computing for a while.

    EOC's folding stats should be back up sometimes tomorrow. I read at their forums that Jason(the guy that made and hosts the stats) is out of town and will be back tomorrow. He is aware that they are down though.

    This really sucks about statsman's though. They've been a stats staple ever since I started folding almost 2 years ago.:(

    That was my initial reaction. Then it occured to me that it would be a nice domain name for a sports nut, or something like that. Maybe it was not intended to be malicious.:confused:

    On the other hand, there are too many scumbags around who grab up names in the hopes of extorting a few bucks out of the original owner. :werr:
