Looking for a good non-linear rpg

edited July 2005 in Gaming
Can someone tell me a good non-linear rpg for the any of these systems:

Sega Genesis; Gameboy Advance; Playstation 2; PC

I am hoping for a game that compares well with games like:

FFVII, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, and Kingdom Hearts

What do you mean by "non-linear"?

non-linear as in Chrono Trigger style, wandering around, storyline events take place at random times

i know ffVII or xenogears is not in this, but gameplay that is just as good is cool

you get threads of the storyline from the events, but by the end you have one big story

Can't go wrong with Morrowind, it's one of the few non-online games that has captivated me in a long while

Do I have to play the other Elder Scroll games to understand and enjoy Marrowind?

Well the whole thing about Morrowind is that you have been dumped on this island continent after being mysteriously pardoned by the King. You are not supposed to know what is going on when you start. The process of discovering just what is going on is part of what makes the game great.

I did not play the other Elder Scrolls games and I still throughly enjoyed Morrowind.

There are also many mods out there for Morrowind, I even played a Castlevania mod for it.

Count me in as another vote for Morrowind. You can play the main story straight up if you want, or be as non-linear as you wish.

Daggerfall (Elderscrolls II) is even less linear, but it may be hard to find.

I played Daggerfall for years, and never once did I even try to follow the 'main quest' doing all kinds of side stuff was too much fun.

Ans as someone who has played all of the elderscrolls games, I can tell you that they are not connected in any way, other than that they take place in different parts of the same world, and you always start with a kind-of amnesia. Everywhere you go, you are a stranger...

    Kind-of like Ultima, I guess.

I tried to pick up Daggerfall again after playing Morrowind... I was sorely disappointed. As great as Daggerfall seemed it its time, its graphic level made it darn near unplayable after playing Morrowind.

I was looking for morrowind on the internet and I saw a real cheap version, it says 83% percent on it and I have no idea what that means.

Is this copy a scam? Here is the URL:

This is a U.S. release, right?

that 83% is a rating some game magazine gave it.
