Hey guys it's me, around Christmas time i get a $500 bonus from work and I want to upgrade my system. My current system is in my sig. I would like to get a Socket 939 cpu and an asus motherboard or something equivalent. Also I would like some good fast ram and a good up to date video card. What would you reccomend? Needs to be within the $500 range.

Take what i say with a small grain of salt, but i think i researched a good bit before buying parts for my newest computer, the first one i did all alone. what i came up with is visible in my signature and totals about $550 (excluding the ram and 80gb hdd which were spares). some of the parts that you have already seem to be above what i have...so i dunno, what do i know? just thought id throw something at ya since you said 939 and Asus :) .

If you plan to add a SATA-II hard drive in the future, then you will want to shy away from boards using the K8T800 Pro chipset. Look in that thread at my last post and you will see a link about this (yet another  ) "Via chipset" problem. Plus, boards based on the Via chipset do not overclock nearly as well as the NF3 Ultra and NF4 chipsets.

I probably wont go to SATA for a long time, and I won't overclock :) So it's sounding just right for me.
