Thinking about upgrading/building new system

edited July 2005 in Hardware
What I was thinking was a ASUS A8N-SLI Premium with a AMD Athlon64 FX-57 Socket 939 processor with 2 nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB.. anyways to my main question.. would it be wise to go with Corsair TwinX 1024MB 3200XL-PT (2/512mb) for my memory or Corsair TwinX 2048MB 3200XL-PT (4/512mb) ?? i read somewhere it wouldnt be best to used 4x512 but idk. i also heard some of the newer games coming out might use more than 1gb or ram.. anywaws what do you guys think. any suggestions are welcome.

Someone else just had a problem with that board running 4 sticks of RAM. I guess they have to be single sided sticks and not double sided.

    Some boards care, some don't.
Look at the reviews at anandtech.com
When you go to 4 sticks you have to go to T2 command.
For some systems this really slows down the memory system.
Also some mobos will not let you use maximum memory speeds with 4 sticks.
    If you want 2GB then buy 2 x 1GB.

1gb is all the average person would need but heck if you're a gamer, go with 2gb. More is pretty much always better :p

Get OCz ram and go with the DFI - sli mobo.
