Tor?

umm kinda a newbie in the field of computers
so dont flame me if i post this here in the wrong forum but
i resently heard about Tor which says that its a communications system
can anyone advocate for it?

    from what i can tell from reading the 1st few lines is that it supplies numerous proxies that your information travels through before it gets to you. It makes you much harder to trace/track/"hacK" and the like. say you want to go go google.com, instead of the original way of looking up the DNS name to IP address and connecting to it yourself, the request is forwarded to a number of proxies that "filter" your query through them. changing the IP address of the request god only knows how many times. its kinda like money laundering.
