XP 64 compatible Scanner recommendations please

My old HP4200C scanner obviously didn't work with Win XP 64 anymore so I need to find myself a scanner. After a good time reading reviews for scanners I came to the following frustrating conclusions:
1) HP does have XP 64 drivers for a number of their scanners, however their recent scanner models receive bad reviews.
2) Canon and Epson don't have XP 64 drivers for their current scanner range.
I am a bit clueless now what to do... :bawling:
Basically I need an A4 scanner, which delivers very crisp results (I often scan technical line drawings), preferably with the capability to scan negative/slides as well. If at all possible, mounted slide support would be nice too. But most of all it should be compatible with Windows XP 64.
Any recommendations?
