Unmountable_boot_volume

edited July 2005 in Hardware
Just done a clean install of XP pro. Was working fine after installing everything, took the pc back to kids room and booted, and got:

UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

STOP 0x000000ED (0x8279F7B8, 0xC0000006

Happens with normal boot and in safe mode.

Any thoughts??

Also, if that does not fix it, try plugging it in where it was working.

If THAT works, something other than the computer is the problem. Not kidding, had this kind of thing happen with a kid's room with a big stereo in a closet (I mean a 6 foot stack of components not counting speakers.) and the culprit was a huge load of RFI\EMI field effect scrambling the computer's working electronics. Turned out the kid had fixed old components and run real heavy cord to huge speakers..... Computer worked fine in the kid's brother's room.... Kid got told computer OR stereo by his mom once I explained an hour service call to her.
