A couple of questions for you:

What power supply do you have?
Have you tried with just 1 stick of ram?
I'm assuming you've used the cd before without problems?

If you have a spare rig try downloading memtest from: http://www.memtest86.com/

There's instructions there, but basically it will create a bootable floppy / cd that runs a utility to check that your ram is ok.

i have an antec smart power 500w.
havent yet tried just one stick of ram- will do that in about 5 mins.
and i have used the cd before and no problems.

EIDE port? That would be instead of the IDE port and hasn't been named such for like 12 years...
