HELP NEEDED: Trojan.Desktophijack.B & TSPY_ALEMOD.A
Hi.
My computer has been infected with possibly 2 or more viruses which my antivirus software detects but cannot clean/quarantine/delete and the virus problems remain.
I am running Symantec Antivirus, PC-cillin, AVG and Ad-Aware. All with the latest up-to-date virus definition files downloaded and installed. I also have CCleaner, RegRun and HijackThis installed.
The problem began with the Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c but I have read up and attempted to follow as much of the older forum help threads relating to this as possible, deleting entries using HijackThis wherever applicable.
At this point in time, Symantec Antivirus still picks up the Trojan.Desktophijack.B virus and PC-cillin picks up TSPY_ALEMOD.A virus repeatedly. Both messages say that cleaning and quarantine fail.
These are the messages I receive;
(From Symantec)
Scan type: Realtime Protection Scan
Event: Virus Found!
Virus name: Trojan.Desktophijack.B
File: C:\WINDOWS\system32\oleadm.dll
Location: C:\WINDOWS\system32
Computer: PRIVATE
User: User
Action taken: Clean failed : Quarantine failed : Access denied
Date found: Monday, 1 August 2005 5:37:01 PM
(From PC-cillin)
Infectected file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\WININET.dll
Virus name: TSPY_ALEMOD.A
User name: User
Action when virus found: Unable to clean/quarantine infected file.
I'm not sure whether these were a result of or related to the Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c so I didn't know whether to post them here or elsewhere in the forums.
Here is the log for HijackThis scan;

I've disabled Windows XP System Restore whilst trying to fix this so far, as well as backing up registry. I've also set all files to be shown so there are no hidden files. I've also tried doing much of the fixing in Safe Mode to no avail. The WININET.DLL and OLEADM.DLL files both seem to be Access Denied even in Safe Mode.
Could someone please help. I've been at this for 4 days and I'm at my wit's end with this. Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks.
