Your satellite is the problem, not the consoles or the internet services. Your satellite connection probably only has a 56k upload.

Nope. Your connection is the problem and a bigger modem won't do anything. Satellite internet connections have great download speeds (at least better than dial-up) but it sucks for sending data (uploading, gaming).

Satellite also has very bad latency so slow upload + dire latency = awful gaming.

Most likely the answer is no. :shakehead

I think most satelite service uses a phone line for upload bandwidth, and download bandwith is sent from the satelite. So your upload will be real slow, and especially since your out in the country, you are probably a ways away from your phone companys CO, which could reduce transfer speeds even more.

On top of that, the fact that you are uploading and downloading across 2 different mediums will cause a lot of latency. So your ping times will be super high as a result.

Ya might want to check if you can get ISDN over multiple phone lines... At least I think thats how it works. But I doubt the satelite company supports that.

Theres really not much you can do to get broadband performance out there except move.

Yeah, downside to satellite is they use birds up in higher orbits. Your latency will be at least 125ms up, and at least 125ms down, assuming perfect conditions, given that a good dialup connection gives you around 400ms latency, and sat internet birds are far from perfect, you're looking at a far worse connection for gaming than Dialup could ever be.

On the plus side, you can download things nice and fast, and no one can ever accuse you of not seeding the torrent you're downloading :p
