Compiling of Ghostscript causes restart

Compiling Ghostscript (or rather "Emerge"'ing it) on this machine causes the computer to hard-reset when it reaches the point where it checks arch.h. The machine is running the latest version of Gentoo (and fully updated everything else) and it seems other Gentoo users are having the same problem. Just wondering if anyone else has had this weird problem. Someone did relate it to specific nForce chipsets at somepoint and I think they may be on to something there...

Slightly more comprehensive report with system hardware and software details:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100458

I didn't use the system for 5 months because of this but eventually found a workaround for it, to install a precompiled package then tell Portage that version 99-99-99 is installed and thus it never tries to compile it again or update it.

I'm running an emerge system right now, hopefully I won't run into that error. I guess I'll find out when I get home from work

Seems to be an nForce error (afaik every user has been nF3). It's marked as not fixable by the Gentoo team as they can't replicate it :(

Highly annoying. I managed to "sort of" get around it by masking all versions other than the packaged version that I installed, putting that in the package.provided and emerging a prebuilt binary.
